The views from Sourdough Gap are quite beautiful. It lies along the Pacific Crest Trail near the border of Mt. Rainier National Park and the Wenatchee National Forest. The nearest access point is at the Pacific Crest Trail entry point at the crest of Chinook Pass. From the parking area take the N(W)leg of the trail and head toward Sheep Lake. You'll reach the lake at about 1.5 miles. Continue along the trail and wind up the mountainside until at 3.3 miles you'll reach the gap.
From the gap you can look down one side to the basin containing Sheep Lake. On the other side you can see the trail dropping down into a wide basin located within Mt. Rainier National Park. If you continue into the park you can head on to Pickaxe Gap and Bear Gap. Of course, that would be a 17.5 mile round trip.
If you like to backpack there are tent sites near Sheep Lake, and further along near Bear Gap.
Elevation (Official or GPSR reading): 6455
 Mountain Range: Cascade
Access: Hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Chinook Pass entry point for 3.3 miles.
