First and foremost, St. George's Cathedral is a centre of worship, and is frequently used for major religious events for both Anglican and ecumenical gatherings.
In addition, it is used for both state and civic affairs. For many years Royal Military College cadets and other military groups have marched into St. George's for worship on special occasions.
Because of its fine acoustics, musical concerts are frequently held here.
St. George's is an important tourist attraction in Kingston, and is visited annually by thousands of people from all over the world.
