This sculpture features a collection of stainless steel columns, each topped with a bronze sculpture, looking as if it emerged from the top of the column.
The lower portions of the columns are steel, and the upper portions are bronze. At the top, the bronze seems to open up and emerging from each is a different icon of Iowa - some that we noticed: corn (of course), a farm, a pig, a sunflower, truck tread, and an acorn. There were 10 columns in all.
You'll find this wonderful piece at a westbound rest stop along I-80 about 20 miles west of Davenport, Iowa.
