The marker reads:
The Shed Road, completed in 1880 by Judge John Watkins of Minden, LA, was old Louisiana’s most unique road. The shed covering the road was continuous for nine miles from Red River in Bossier Parish to Red Chute. It was abandoned after the coming of the first railroad fifteen years later.
Further research at the Bossier History Center shows that the Shed Road had wooden boards as the road base and terminated on the west end at the Dillard Plantation in what is now Bossier City.
