Al Brown Lake is the crown jewel of West City Park. Everyday residents all over Jefferson county come to feed the large flock of geese and ducks who call this home. The banks of 3 acre man-made Al Brown Lake are flanked by fishing lines and poles from dawn to dusk. While there is no sign posting limits, Al Brown Lake is stocked and well maintained.

The lake is also host to the Firecracker Days Festival and the All Amereican Fishing Derby for Jefferson County. Children to age 12 compete to catch the biggest and best fish in various fishiing classes. Al Brown Lake also hosts events for youth and young adults.

The lake is kept moss/algae free by two springler fountains set into the center of the lake.

Boating, swimming, and watercrafts are prohibited on Al Brown Lake. The area schools also host cross country meets on the land surrounding Al Brwon lake, making this a place to be in the fall.

Playgrounds, soccer fields, baseball, softball, disc golf, horseshoe and washer pits, several pavilions, picnic areas, a nature preserve, a healthy freshwater stream, and plenty of hiking and biking trails make this lake worth the visit.
