The sections of wall located in 1940 during military construction works in the Violenried were excavated in 1941, then restored and partially reassembled in 1945. The site is today the property of the Historical and Antiquities Society of Basel.

It was probably a dining room (9.2 x 6.5 meters!) with fittings that lead one to believe that it was part of a luxurious house with warm air heating (hypocaustum) and walls covered in marble or frescos.
