The Balaban and Katz Chicago Theatre, or as it is more commonly known, the Chicago Theatre, is one of the city's most photographed landmarks, thanks to its large sign and marquee bearing the city's name.

It was designed in 1921 by Cornelius W. Rapp and George L. Rapp in classical revival-French Baroque style. When the four million dollar, 5,000 seat theater opened it was called "Wonder Theatre of the World" thanks to its posh interior and pioneering use of air conditioning (one of the first theaters in the nation to use it.)

The theatre offers tours of the historic building twice a week on weekdays. There are also regular shows at the theater. Check their Website for information on showtimes.
