The Loveman's Clock has long been recognized as a meeting place for families and friends shopping in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. The clock, located at 3rd Avenue North and 19th Street, was originally part of the Loveman's Department Store, a Birmingham-based chain. The chain went out of business with the closing of this downtown store in April 1980. The Loveman's building, built in 1935, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and is preserved as part of Birmingham's McWane Science Center where visitors still meet under the clock
