Despite it’s copious Victorian ornamentation, this house is not of the mansion-like proportions seen higher on the hill. William Reis was one of six sons born to George Reis. George Reis had founded one of the earliest foundries in the county, the Shenango Iron Works. His sons, including William, followed him into the iron and steel business. George Reis was killed in an industrial accident, as were two of his sons and one grandson. William became president of the Shenango Valley Steel Co. The house is now a halfway house.
