This odd Queen Anne was built for R.W. Clendenin, another prominent early industrialist. It was restored by the Eckels Architectural Firm and now houses their offices.

This mansion is an odd Queen Anne, with a bulky, rectangular plan emphasizing its horizontality. The Victorian decor is rather subdued, limited to fish scales and a few turned posts. It has been beautifully restored, housing the Eckels Architectural Firm, founded by W.G. Eckels. Eckels had designed the neoclassical 1911 New Castle High School, which has recently been demolished. He also designed a number of other schools in Pennsylvania and Ohio, including the 1917 neoclassical Butler High School, currently protected in the Butler Historic District, and many structures at Slippery Rock University. His firm continues to design schools throughout the region.

Between here and Trinity Episcopal Church, at 210 North Mercer Street, is a former crack house where one of the ‘Detroit 28' resided.
