The following excerpt is taken from tour 11 of "The WPA Guide to Illinois":
The THOMAS HOUSE (1904), 210 Forest Ave., is typical of Wright's prairie style and his use of plaster over wood. All rooms are above the terrace level; there is no basement. The strong horizontal lines of the structure flow into the carefully graded, landscaped setting.
Although, as the guide says, the design of the Thomas House is typical of his prairie style, it is the first of this style to appear in Oak Park and is the first house in Oak Park where he used all stucco on the exterior. Using stucco instead of wood allowed the geometric forms Wright used to be clear.
This is a private residence so please be respectful and do your viewing from the street. The home can be found on 210 N. Forest.
