The Arkansas Post may be in a lost corner of the delta today but in years past it was important to many different nations for control of the local area and commerce to points both north and west.
At various times it has been controled by the French, the Spanish, The Confederate States, and of course in present times the United States.
There is also a "Trail of Tears Natioanl Historic Trail" stamp available at this site that is different from the ones I have previously found at other Arkansas locations in that it actually specifies that it is the stamp for the Arkansas Post location rather than just Arkansas.
