"The Boulder" is a one of two identical statues that are perched upon piers flanking the entry to the Frank Lloyd Wright Studio, in Oak Park, Illinois, (1898). Wright designed the statue and Richard Bock sculpted them. Wrights goal was to create a sculpture which symbolizes the struggle of the oppressed and shackled soul to break its bond, and find self-expression.
