Located near the entrance to the Joliet Area Historical Museum, this sculpture faces the southbound traffic of the old Route 66 to which it celebrates.

Route 66 has long been known as "The Mother Road." Sculptor Kathleen Scarboro captures that image and many others visions associated with the long, lost (but not forgotten) road.

But the sculpture is only half of the artwork. A detailed mosaic pedestal is the work of Lead Mosaic Artist Sharka Glet and Mosaic Assistant Shane Jackson.
