Walt Disney was interested in a monorail system since he first thought up Disneyland. Disney's engineering team visited the Alweg Corporation in Germany to look at the prototype they'd built.
Disneyland and Alweg teamed up in 1958 to develop a working prototype for use at Disneyland.
