I traveled The Oregon Trail with an Elderhostel group from Kansas City/Independence, Missouri to Oregon City, Oregon June 13-28, 2007. On Wednesday, June 27, we traveled from The Dalles to Barlow Road on the south side of majestic Mt. Hood (11,235 ft. elevation). I got coordinates and photographs at several locations including the Pioneer Woman’s Grave. The Pioneer Woman died on the Barlow Road and was buried in a simple wagonbox casket. A wooden wagon tongue served as a headboard. People passing the site have placed stones and flowers on her grave over the years, slowly building a memorial.Instructions for logging waymark: A photograph is required of you (or your GPS receiver, if you are waymarking solo) and the place.
