Bix Beiderbecke was a famous jazz musician born to a German immigrant family in Davenport, Iowa. He grew up listening to the bands playing on the river boats that came up from the south and developed a love for jazz.

He became famous touring with his band the "Wolverines" in New York and throughout the south. His early death was due to a seizure brought on by his severe alcoholism.
