Army Specialist Sgt. David McKeever was killed in Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom when his unit was ambushed by by individuals who fired a rocket-propelled grenade. He was assigned to 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Giessen, Germany. He died on April 5, 2004 at the age of 25.
The granite monument dedicated to him is found in Tim Russert's Children's Park in the south part of Buffalo.
