As you hike to the Escalante River via the Coyote Gulch you will run across the Jacob Hamblin Arch. You will have to arrive early if you want to camp on the south side of the arch. It seems to be a popular place to camp. It is tucked in under the rock over hang. If you are brave enough you can hike up on top of the arch from the south side, but realize you do so at your own risk.

It appears that the river used to go under the arch. But through time it looks like the rocks gave way and dammed up the water from going underneath and forced the water to meander to the south.

There is a natural spring to the east of the arch that empties into the river. You can fill your canteen, camelback, or water bottle there. There is a toilet facility to the west of the arch as well. I never used the toilet facility, so be aware that you use it at your own risk.
Photo of the Arch by itself?: yes

Type of Arch: Water Eroded

Type of Material:
Appears that the water and wind eroded the sandstone to form this arch.
