The Muppet Bus - Staunton, IL - Route 66 - The Mother Road on Waymarking.com

We had just arrived at the Luna Cafe as a bunch of classic cars were pulling out of the parking lot, led by Rich Henry, owner of Henry's Rabbit Ranch. They were cruising up to Litchfield, IL.

We weren't aware it was him and we made our way to the ranch as planned. Imagine our disappointment to find the place closed, that and the disappointment of a 3 year old road warrior who'd been told there were bunnies at the next stop. He took it well.

Well we figure we'd take some exterior shots and be on our way.

Parked in the lot was an old 30's - 40's Chevy Suburban. Hanging out was a man named Roger Pfalzgraf. Long time friend of Rich Henry and according to Rich, the 8th wonder of the world. He'd just returned from Wyoming and had missed the cruise with Rich and the rest.

So we get to talking and he says "You folks wanna see the Muppet Bus?"
We of course follow him a couple miles on an old alignment of Route 66 to his home. And there it is the actual bus from 2 of the Muppet movies.

We wound up killing a couple hours talking, drinking Dr. Pepper and checking out the specimens of life out on the open road.

Mike Wallis was right when he said it's the people who make Route 66 what is. Roger Pfalzgraf 8th wonder of the world? Only because 7th'd been taken. Thanks again Roger for your hospitality. See you down the road.
