Pioneer Park, an 1100 acre area on the west edge of Lincoln was given to the city by John and Gertrude Harris in 1928. In 1930 this life sized bronze bison, also a gift from Mr. amd Mrs. Harris,was placed in a large traffic circle near the park entrance. It is one of Lincoln's best known sculptures.
