This delightful little sundial stands in the herb garden in Pioneer park's nature center. An upright dragonfly is the gnomon and there are two bas-relief dragonflies on the horizontal plate.
The shadow is cast by the vertical wings of the dragonfly and at noon, which is when the photo was taken, the shadow falls along the dragonfly's body.
A verse around the edge of the plate reads:
Flying jewel-How quick your flight.
Reflect the passage of day to night.
