Quick Description: Inside this 1941 Renaissance building designed by architect Kenneth Franzheim, you'll find a 25-yard heated pool with four swimming lanes. Like at most Y's, the pool is mostly used for exercise, swimming lessons and sport.
Location: Texas, United States

Waymark Code: WM1PCB

Long Description:This old-school Y has been retrofitted with a modern, 7,000 sq. ft.
fitness area and a health-food café serving breakfast and lunch.
Most impressive inside are the huge original whirlpools, laid in
mosaic tile, with water jetting out at a voracious velocity you
just couldn’t find in any hotel. Calf hurts after walking/hiking
all day? Put it in front of one of those jets.
Entry is free if you have any Y membership, otherwise day passes
($10) are available. You can get free passes at the concierge desk
of the downtown Doubletree, Hyatt and Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza
hotels. The building is slated to be demolished.
