Columbia Farm Cemetary Venango County PA - Abandoned Cemeteries on Waymarking.com

The cemetary is a remnant of the time when Pithole and Petroleum Center were boom towns in the new oil industry. We were able to find five headstones at the site. Most are unreadable, but we could identify an 1872 and an 1870 marking. A description for a nearby geocache indicates that the oldest marker in the cemetary is 1868. We could not find it. One resident of the cemetary is Dora Newcomer. The month of her death appears to be September, but it is very faint.

There is roadside parking about 650 feet from the cemetary. A closed gate with an old road seems to be the best path into the cemetary. The road has not been used for years with many downed trees blocking the path. There is a heavy growth of multiflora rose and blackberry on the road and leading off-trail to the cemetary. To reach the cemetary, you must drop through a small ravine and cross an intermittant stream. The area very near the cemetary leading out of the ravine has a large amount of trash including older broken glass.
