A small ghost town located in Washoe County, in northwestern Nevada. Not much remains of the town, which may have died in the 1920s, but two wooden buildings can still be seen--the Vya Post Office and School, reputedly run by a married couple.

Vya, a ranching community, lies just north of the junction of Nevada State Routes 34 and 8A in the remote northwestern corner of Nevada. Near the junction, Route 8A closely parallels or is on top of a section of the Lassen - Applegate Emigrant Trail. The site is now private property - DO NOT TRESPASS. Pictures should only be taken from the adjacent gravel road, not within the fenced area.

The nearest community with services is Cedarville, CA - approximately 22 miles to the west. The route from Cederville is either paved or all-weather gravel road. WARNING - Vya has an elevation of 5,561 feet. Roads may be snow bound during the winter. Check on road conditions if traveling the area during the winter.
