This historic house, also known as the Beattie - Miles house, was the residence of James A. Beattie, who was instrumental in the founding of Nebraska Christian University, later known as Cotner University. The Beattie - Miles house is the last remaining building that was associated with the college, which closed in 1933. The house is considered the finest extant example of a Queen Anne-style residence in the community that was known as Bethany Heights (now part of Lincoln).
