Bukilat Cave is located in the MacAuther (yes named for the US General) barnagay of Poro Island, in the Camotes Island group of the Philippines. To get there you must travel first to Cebu City, on the island of Cebu, then travel NNE about 2 hours by fast ferry to the port of Poro Town on Port Island. From there you can rent a car or more likely a motorcycle and driver to take you there. Once there, there is a PHP20 fee to enter the cave.

The cave is has skylights that allow the light to stream in and light the pools, even back into the recesses. It also has native birds nesting there and can be very tranquil when empty. The cave was used as a cache location by rebels during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during WWII.

Composition is primarily of compressed and lifted rock corals, like much of the stratum in this area. There are a couple sizeable formations but most are small.

Extra bonus, swim back in the large recess behind the stone dias in the center of the case. First of all the overhead of the room is dark but the water remain lit in florescent green from refraction. Secondly, the cave water lapping into the tubes in this part of the cave makes a deep drumming noise you will likely hear almost no where else.
