This wood frame church sits on a small hill, in an old cemetery, above the historic Gold Rush town, Chinese Camp. Now almost a ghost town, Chinese camp was established in the early mining days to house Chinese workers for the gold fields. The church was founded in 1854 and the building constructed in 1855. The first priest rode a mule between several churches in the area.
Services have not been held here since the 1920s but the building was restored in 1949. It is still owned by the Stockton Archdiocese and is maintained by a local resident.
The 1952 movie, "High Noon", was filmed largely in Chinese camp and the church can be seen in several scenes.
