The Kelso Dunes are some of the highest dunes in the region, but they are only part of the larger Devil's Playground dune complex. They also have the rare characteristic of "singing."

The Kelso Dunes are made up of a series of relic and active dunes. It is a wilderness. You can climb the dunes and examine the various plant and animal life. You can also watch eolian transport processes. These dunes also produce an audible noise as the sand falls down the leeward side of the dunes.
