Gamblers in the Gold Rush boom town of Jamestown, CA, apparently wishing to cover all bets, joined townsfolk in contributed to the establishment of a church in 1852. The present building was constructed in 1861. It sits on a steep hillside about two blocks above the main street of the town and its design fits nicely into the space available. It is one of the oldest active churches in the California Gold Rush country.
