At the fork of the road is the NATIONAL PARK MUSEUM, where are displayed specimans of the park's flora and fauna. Maps show trails marked in color, and small models illustrate the formation of Mount Rainier. Excerpt from the Mount Rainier National Park, "Park Tour 1" section, p. 583
This small museum at Longmire is still open. Instead of focusing on nature though, it focuses on the park's history. Information on trails can now be found at the Wilderness Information Center across the street, and interpretive information about the flora, fauna and geology of the park can be found further along the road at the Paradise Visitor Center.
