The Old Salem Post office was built in 1922 and served the citizen's of Salem until 1985, when it was replaced by a new larger post office located several blocks west of downtown. The old post office sat empty for several years before being remodeled and used for doctor’s offices from 1989-1991. Since 1991 the old post office has housed several types of small businesses, and is today being used as a restaurant.
