Long Description:General John Gibbon (April 20, 1827 - February 6, 1896) was a
career U.S. army officer who fought in the American Civil War and
the Indian War.
Gibbon was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but raised in
North Carolina. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in
1847.
