This building originally stood above the Fuquay Mineral Spring on South Main Street. It has been moved to a new location on South Fuquay Avenue, north of the fire station and library, and beside the Dept. of Motor Vehicles office.
Built by Squire Ballentine. The first teacher was Miss Harriet Parker, who attended Peace College in nearby Raleigh.
Construction: Logs, boarded over with pine lumber on the inside.
The building appears to be maintained as an example of early school facilities. No hours were posted, but a handicap ramp at the rear suggests it occasionally is open to the public on special occasions.
Nearby: The Ballentine Spence House (circa 1910), at 109 East Spring Street, was the home of the first schoolmaster, and was the first house in the area to have plumbing and electricity.
Address: 119 S. Fuquay Avenue Fuquay-Varina, NC United States 27526
