At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is the highest point in Tennessee, and the third highest point east in the Mississippi. At the end of Clingmans Dome Road, visitors will find the trailhead leading to a steep, half-mile hiking trail leading to the summit.
At the top, weary climbers are treated to spectacular 360° views from the top of a 45-foot tall observation tower. On clear, pollution-free days visibilty from the tower can reach 100 miles.
