In March 1903, Mayor Thomas Monahan sent a letter to Andrew Carnegie for funds to build the library. Mr. Carnegie sent $10,000. By May 1904, construction of the building begins and was completed by December of that year at a cost of $9,263. The library was dedicated and the Grand Opening occured in October 1905. It took 10 months to collect enough books for the library to be officially open.

A recent expansion has more than doubled the original size of the building. The library is still on a brick street and you can often hear an Amish horse-and-buggy drive by.

To log this Waymark, take a picture of the building with either yourself or your GPSr. Take some time to visit the library and the town.
