Located on the corner of Battery Park Avenue and Wall Street. In true Asheville style, this is no iron sculpture of a founding father, but a sculpture of an actual laundry iron. This giant flatiron was designed by local artist Reed Todd after an iron used at the turn of the century at the Asheville Laundry. It directs visitors to the 1926 Flat Iron Building, an Asheville landmark with an unusual wedge shape that houses shops and businesses. Day or night, you're likely to find a street musician entertaining the crowd in the shadow of the big iron.
