This lion is the headstone of Dr. James C. Ayer. Born May 1818 in Groton CT. Died July 1878 in Lowell, MA.
According to legend, his headstone is the guardian of Clara Bonney's Plot. Kind of strange, the lion has its back to her and they're a couple hundred feet apart, but follow her gaze and you'll be looking at this big ol' cat. One other thing is he's hard to find in the winter time. The folks at the cemetery cover him for protection from the elements.
