Five monks arrived here in the summer of 1995 from their parent monastery in Greece. They built the main church, living quarters for the monks, the dining hall, and guest facilities. The brothers support themselves with landscape work, and the grounds show it. Lush gardens include a vegetable garden, a small vineyard, citrus orchards, and an olive grove. Fountains, gazebos, small statues and pathways lend to the elaborateness of the gardens.
The brothers here follow the cenobitic way of life meaning all things are common to all. They follow the same schedule, eat together, with work, rest and worship periods at the same time.
St Anthony's welcomes visitors. Those who follow their religion may stay for extended retreats. Anyone can come for day visits. You are greeted with refreshments, and given a tour of the main church. Then you may walk the grounds at leisure. They have a dress code if you visit. Please check their website for detailed information. Photographs are allowed as long as they do not include photos of monks or overnight pilgrims.
We have toured the grounds. I recommend this option if you have the time.
