Joaquin Miller, Known as the Poet of the Sierra’s or The Byron of the West. He was a controversial character in his day. His contemporaries disliked him branding him as a liar and fake. However he gained popularity in England and became a sensation. Visit Link

These coordinates and pictures are of a small monument that is all but forgotten on a country lane near Mr. Miller’s childhood home in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Here is a quote of Joaquin’s that I like.

"That man who lives for self alone - lives for the meanest mortal known"
