Some of the branches of the Carnegie Library System offer free wireless internet while in the library. You can also find free wireless at the Main (Oakland), Brookline, Downtown & Business, East Liberty, Lawrenceville, and Woods Run branches.
If your laptop doesn't connect automatically here are the instructions from the library's website:
1. For your browser's LAN Settings (in Windows Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings), disable Automatic Configuration and click "Use a proxy server for your LAN"
2. Use this configuration:

Approximate Location: Throughout the library (on the second floor above the parking garage).
