Far Sawrey lies in rolling farmland and wooded hillsides by lake Windermere. It is the area where the recently filmed Miss Potter film is based upon. The Sawrey Hotel and the store are part of the village amenities. The village was a favourite place of Beatrix Potter. It can be spotted in her book, The Fairy Caravan. Down the lane from the shop is a copse that served as Pringle Wood in the same book. Far Sawrey is on the B5285 across the lake from Bowness-on-Windermere by ferry."
