The B52 Crash Site outside of Greeenville


This is a crash site of a B52 bomber just outside of Greenville, Maine near Elephant Mountain. Take the Lily Bay Road out of Greenville turn right onto the Scammon Road go up the hill and take a left just before Sawyer Pond. After several miles you will come to Upper and Lower Wilson Ponds. Look for the yellow B52 Bomber Crash Signs. Park at: N:45.31.758

Cause of Crash:
The crash was caused by a structural problem. The vertical stabilizer came off the plane, falling to the ground 1.5 miles from where the plane impacted the mountain side.
