The old Whitney bridge has been lying here beside the road ever since I can remember. Originally it spanned the Green River as part of 212th, about 1000 feet from where it now lies.

The old Whitney has been lying here beside the road ever since I can remember. As a little girl I remember being curious as to why a perfectly good bridge was lying next to the road, and always asking if we could stop to climb on it.
In fact, it's become an accepted part of the beautiful Green Valley, so much so that King County created Whitney Bridge Park around it. The park is simply a large field that's been replanted with trees and a river access point for people fishing or rafting on the Green River. I believe it was originally located about 1000 feet from where it now lies, on 212th Avenue spanning the Green River.
