This park is easy to pass by and not realize it's there. It's along a busy road, and directly across the street is a larger, and more "eye-catching" park.
Astronaut Grove Park, was dedicated April 30, 1988, and is a memorial to each individual who has lost their lives in space accidents. At the entrance to the park there is are several plaques which provide information about when and why the park was built. It also shows that the park is dedicated specifically to those who lost their lives in the Challenger tragedy. Throughout the brick walking areas there are small star-shaped plaques which list the name, date of birth, and date of death of those involved in the Apollo 1 and Challenger accidents. As of right now there don't appear to be stars for those astronauts involved in the Discovery accident, but I imagine they have plans to add them at some point.
