The Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens consists of an area of almost 300 hectares. One can see both landscaped and typical Highveld vegetation.

The Botanical Garden was first opened in 1982. It's main attractions are the Witpoortjie falls and the Nesting pair of Black Eagles. The Garden is home to some 600 naturally occurring  plant species, 220 bird species and numerous small animal species, including small antelope and jackal.

The Botanical Gardens has some fascinating Geology, above the falls the visitor can see the rock layers that were once inshore of the ancient inland sea 2950 million years ago. Just next to the falls one can also see an obvious fault line.

The Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens are a great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
