In the hills overlooking Las Cruces we found this Veterans Memorial including a memorial to those that survived the Bataan Death March

This beautiful monument depicts all of the declared war conflicts that the United States of America has been involved in. Each placard explains the events leading to and the resolution of each war and then goes on to list all the NM soldiers involved.
The area also has a Memory Walk that includes the "Heroes of Bataan" that is dedicated to those who died, and those who survived the "Bataan Death March"
The Bataan Death March Memorial Monument is the only federally funded monument dedicated to the victims of the Bataan Death March during WWII. The monument was dedicated in April 2001 and was designed and sculpted by Las Cruces artist Kelly Hester. Memorial is located in Veterans Park along Roadrunner Parkway.
