Lena Fox is the lady the Pulitzer prize winning play "Driving Miss Daisy" was based on. Author Alfred Uhry based the story of Daisy and Hoke on his own grandmother Lena Fox and her chauffeur Will Coleman.

The play went on to be made into a famous movie of the same name. Jessica Tandy won the Best Actress Oscar for her role as Daisy Werthan. At age 80, she is the oldest winner of a Best Actress Oscar. Morgan Freeman played Hoke the chaffeur was nominated for best actor. The movie won Best Picture for 1989. I used to work at Crestlawn Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia. It is one of the oldest in the Atlanta area. At Crestlawn there are Civil War graves, Slave graves, pauper graves to very famous Atlanta people. This is one of the famous ones.

Description:
Driving Miss Daisy is set in Atlanta, Uhry's hometown. Spanning a quarter of a century, from 1948 to 1973, the action takes place before, during, and after the civil rights movement. The plot centers on two characters, an elderly Jewish widow named Miss Daisy Werthan and her African American driver, Hoke Colburn. Although the story was inspired by Uhry's grandmother Lena Fox and her chauffeur, Will Coleman, the characters are universal figures that appeal to a wide audience.
