Sabula, Iowa is located right on (in?) the Mississippi River. The main part of the Mississippi River flows on the East side of Sabula. On the West side are backwaters that were once part of the Mississippi River. With flood control dikes being installed, the backwaters are now two lakes divided by two roads and a railroad.
