The four story Hotel Mark Twain was constructed beginning in 1905 and was opened in 1906. It was designed by Haynes & Barnett architects in a Renaissance style. The hotel was the grandest hotel in its day however deteriorated over time. The hotel has been closed for many years and is currently being renovated and converted to senior citizen housing.
